Auckland Council Workplace Strategy
Client: Auckland Council
Service: Programme and Project Management
Auckland Council’s Workplace Strategy project is the consolidation of council CBD accommodation for 3,400 employees over 30 months, from the preparation of a workplace strategy to completion of occupant relocation. A broad team of experts was assembled to address every aspect from governance through asset due diligence and acquisition, real estate and change management, design, programming, consenting, procurement, construction, including SHF, FF&E and ICT delivery, commissioning, progressive occupation and make-good works in vacated premises.
The project provided new workplaces for 3,400 employees. Enablers of change included council’s deep commitment to workplace as a tool for transformation, the involvement of international specialists in consultation and workplace strategy, dedicated change management resources, and a market-leading ICT strategy.
GreenStar certification to 5-Star Office Interiors standard was achieved. 37,000 sqm of CBD office space was refurbished and fitted out to meet the high standards established in the workplace strategy. Major drivers were minimal cost of future change, technology-enabled mobility, location-independent knowledge management, and a shift from individual work-settings to multi-settings to provide flexibility, adaptability and choice in how employees work, and provide purpose-designed environments for every work task.
“…excellent programme and project management service across a large, complex
project…safely, on time and within budget…Can do approach…friendly, efficient and effective…”
